Eclipse is a STEM Racing team built on those three words. Here's who we are, why we chose our name, and why it's worth backing us.
The name
Why
Eclipse?
“When the sun is in eclipse and disappears, you can see its greatness.”
That's a modern adaptation of a quote attributed to the Roman philosopher Seneca, and it's where our name comes from. It highlights the significance and power of an eclipse — a moment when something ordinary suddenly reveals just how great it really is.
Inspired by that idea, we chose the name Eclipse to reflect our commitment to excellence, innovation and impact. Through our work, we strive to demonstrate the same sense of significance and capability that the name represents.

Eclipse is a group of science, technology, engineering and maths enthusiasts from the Gifted Program at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in East Brisbane. We came together to take on STEM Racing — a competition that asks teams to act like a real engineering business, not just build a car.
We've already won our region, which is proof the team can compete at the level we're aiming for. Now we're racing at the STEM Racing State Competition, chasing a national title with a car built to complete the 20 metre track in under 1.1 seconds, backed by a brand people can recognise on an international scale.
